PDEA destroys P5.2-B worth of chemicals for shabu production

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Thursday destroyed P5.2-billion worth of chemicals used to make shabu (crystal meth) in Valenzuela City.

In a statement, authorities said among the destroyed ingredients are 975 kilograms of tartaric acid, 630 liters of ammonia, and 1,485 liters of accetic acid.

PDEA Spokesperson Derric Carreon said the shabu ingredients were leftovers of illegal drugs destroyed in Trece Martirez, Cavite.

He said the chemicals were taken to Valenzuela City since it can only be destroyed at the Green Planet Management Incorporated in Barangay Punturin. /ee
