Duterte appoints Guevarra as OIC during his trip to Jordan, Israel

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra will be the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) while President Rodrigo Duterte is on a historic trip to Israel and Jordan this week, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said on Sunday.

Duterte signed Special Order 918 on Friday delegating Guevarra as the country’s OIC.

“Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra shall act as OIC to take care of the day-to-day operations in the Office of the President and oversee the general administration of the Executive Department, ” Duterte said in his order.

The President left the country on Sunday afternoon to start his back-to-back official state visit to Israel and Jordan.

Duterte will visit Israel from September 2 to 5, which will mark the first time a Philippine President will visit the Holy Land since diplomatic ties were established between the two nations in 1957.

He is also scheduled to meet with King Abdullah II during his visit to Jordan from September 5 to 8. /ee
