Landslides block roads in Cordillera

Some roads in Cordillera provinces are unpassable because of landslides triggered by Typhoon Ompong, according to the Fifth Infantry Division.

Capt. Jefferson Somera, spokesman of the Fifth Infantry Division based in Isabela Province, said seven landslide incidents were monitored in the main thoroughfares connecting provinces in the CAR.

He said that almost all of these roads, especially in Ifugao and Mountain Province, were blocked.

Somera said some minor flooding incidents in the region were also reported.

Meanwhile, one man was injured in Baguio City on Saturday morning due to a landslide.

Ruben Carandang, director of the Office of Civil Defense in the Cordillera Administrative Region, said Dresden Golidan was injured when his house in Baguio City collapsed. ROY NARRA
