Emerging writer in the GTA? Get a mentor

Are you a new writer in the GTA who could use a mentor? Diaspora Dialogues invites submissions from emerging writers who want to be matched up with mentor writers. Deadline for applications is October 15, 2018, and mentorships will begin in January 2019 and run for six months.

Diaspora Dialogues is “an organization that supports the creation and presentation of new fiction, poetry and drama that reflect the complexity of Toronto — and Canada — back to residents through the eyes of its richly diverse communities,” says Zalika Reid-Benta, program manager at Diaspora Dialogues. “Every year we have a Mentorship Program that pairs emerging writers with established poets and authors around the city.”

To apply, you must currently have a full or near-full draft of an original full-length novel, or collection of short stories or poems. (Full or near-full draft means that the writer has up to 85,000 words or 300 double-spaced pages of prose; or up to 25 poems (50 pages maximum).

If you have previously published a full-length manuscript, you are not eligible, although appearances in magazines and/or anthologies are acceptable.
