LOOK: Groups protest outside House, call for renewable energy

Groups protesting outside the House of Representatives on Monday called on the current administration to prioritize cheap, clean, and renewable sources of energy.

Around 50 members of Power for People, Philippine Movement for Climate Justice, Freedom from Debt Coalition, and Sanlakas gathered to denounce the country’s reliance on coal-powered electricity.

According to the protesters, electricity derived from coal is not only harmful to the environment, but is also costly compared to pursuing renewable energy — further burdening the consumers especially poor families.
