Aquino SolGen files COC, vies for Senate seat

Former-Solicitor General Florin Hilbay has joined the senatorial race in the 2019 midterm elections as he filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections on the last day of filing, Wednesday.

Hilbay is part of the 8-candidate senatorial slate of the Oposisyon Koalisyon which is composed of the Liberal Party, Akbayan, Magdalo, Aksyon Demokratiko, Tindig Pilipinas, and other cause-oriented groups.

He served as solicitor general from 2014 to 2016 under then-President Benigno Aquino III.

In an earlier Twitter post, Hilbay said he would run for the Senate in response to the challenge of serving the country and to defend democracy. /cbb
