Mindanao residents protest against martial law extension

A GROUP of residents from Mindanao staged a protest in front of the Senate in Manila on Monday against a proposal to extend martial law in the region, two years after President Rodrigo Duterte declared it to quash a Muslim extremist rebellion and the spread of terrorism.
Kalamaran Vice Chairman Datu Jomorito Goaynon said that the indigenous people suffered the most instead of the terrorists, citing the loss of lives and means of livelihood.
The protest comes as the Senate will deliberate on the proposal today. LIEZELLE ROY
