P1M worth of illegally transported crude oil seized in Navotas City

MANILA, Philippines — Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) recovered in Navotas City two motor tankers with around 35,650 liters of illegally transported crude oil worth around P1 million.

Also arrested in the operation conducted Saturday by the CIDG and elements of the District Special Operations Unit of the Northern Police District, Philippine Navy and the Philippine Coast Guard were 14 suspects.

Police said the suspects were caught in the act of transporting crude oil without permit.

Seized from the suspects were assorted pumps and hoses.

Police said the suspects are now under their custody while the confiscated crude oil, motor tankers, pumps and hoses were turned over to the Philippine Coast Guard for documentation. /muf
