TD ‘Usman’ strands 1,287 in Leyte, Samar, Dinagat ports — PCG

A total of 1,287 passengers were left stranded in different ports by Tropical Depression “Usman,” the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Thursday.

As of 8 a.m., the PCG’s tally showed the following number of stranded passengers:

Southern Leyte

Port of Maasin – 80

Aside from passengers, 87 rolling cargoes, 11 vessels and 5 motor bancas were also stranded in the said ports.

The PCG also suspended vessel trips in 11 areas on Thursday due to the rough sea condition, including Southern Leyte, Northern Samar, and Dinagat Islands.

The PCG also suspended also suspended all sea travels from Surigao City in Surigao del Norte.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Usman will affect the regions in the country such as Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands. /muf
