MANILA, Philippines — From good leadership, securing jobs, up to a vibrant people’s participation, senators on Monday wish a meaningful year-end with a hopeful outlook for 2019.

Senator Panfilo Lacson, who  had a series of exposès on alleged pork barrel this year, wished that leaders of the country “practice what they preach,” and for Filipinos to “follow the rules” so the country could” move forward to become first class.”

Senator Grace Poe who chairs the Senate public services committee meanwhile honored the “undying Filipino spirit” behind hardships that challenged the nation’s collective consciousness this year.

“Let us get involved, make informed choices and be the flicker of hope to each other,” she added.

Senator Sonny Angara echoed Poe’s message saying the coming year is another chance to “love and serve other people.”

“Ang bagong taon ay nangangahulugan ng bagong simula, bagong pangarap at bagong pag-asa. Isa rin itong napakahalagang pagkakataon para pag-ibayuhin pa natin ang pag-alaga, pagmamahal at pagtulong sa ating kapwa, lalung-lalo na sa mga lubhang nangangailangan,” he said.

Senator Joel Villanueva, chair of the labor, employment and human resources development panel, said he will continue to address unemployment, lack of jobs and labor abuses as the country heads on to a full new year.

“May this year of 2019 foster solidarity and optimism among the Filipino people as we fulfill our goals and vision in pursuit of providing a comfortable life for everyone,” Villanueva said. /muf
