Rep. Garin surrenders 2 more firearms to police

MANILA, Philippines — Iloilo 1st District Rep. Richard Garin surrendered on Tuesday two more firearms to the San Juan City Police Station.

His Colt 5.56 mm rifle and its four magazines loaded with ammunitions, and 9mm pistol and its two magazines were surrendered through his political officer Jason Tabag.

Rep. Garin earlier surrendered nine of his 11 firearms while his father Guimbal town Mayor Oscar Garin surrendered five of his eight guns.

Three of the guns were declared lost with corresponding blotter reports to the Guimbal Municipal Police Station in Iloilo.

According to the Philippine National Police, three firearms of Rep. Garin have expired licenses, while five of Mayor Garin’s guns also have expired licenses.

The Garins surrendered their firearms after PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde ordered the cancellation of their gun permits, following their alleged mauling of a policeman.

The two firearms will be under the custody of the San Juan City Police Station for safekeeping, police said. /ee
