LTO starts online-only submission of medical certificates

MANILA, Philippines — Starting Monday, Jan. 7, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Metro Manila and the Davao Region (Region 11)) will only accept online medical certificates of those applying for a student permit, a driver’s license, or a renewal of their license.

Under Memorandum Circular No. 2018-2157 dated Dec. 7, the medical certificates have to become from accredited clinics.

“All LTO Licensing sites are hereby instructed to start accepting only electronically transmitted Medical Examination Certificates to the LTO IT Systems,” the memorandum states.

“In addition, the Regional Directors and Assistant Regional Directors are directed to advise the physicians issuing or intending to issue Medical Examination Certificates for Driver’s License applications and other related transactions, a least 1 week prior to the Implementation Date to go to their applicable Regional Office and commence registration, specific time and venues to be determined by their respective regions,” it added.

Other regions will also implement the memorandum on different dates:

  • Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and Central Visayas (Regions 4A, 4B, 5, and 7) – Jan. 14.
  • Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen (Regions 6, 9 and 12) – Jan. 21
  • Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon (Regions 1, 2, and 3) – Jan. 28.
  • Northern Mindanao (Region 10), Eastern Visayas (Region 8), Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Caraga – Feb. 4

“Physicians who wish to be registered outside the abovementioned dates, please accommodated checking of documents at the respective LTO Regional Offices through our respective Regional Operations Divisions Head,” the memorandum states.

All LTO officers and personnel are required to follow and cooperation with the new policy of the agency. /atm
