THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday that it was monitoring two weather disturbances — the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao and the northeast monsoon affecting parts of Northern Luzon and Visayas.

In its 5 a. m. weather advisory, Pagasa said that the LPA was last spotted 1,295 kilometers (km) east of Davao City, Davao del Sur.

The LPA is still outside the Philippine territory and is unlikely to become a typhoon within the next 24 to 48 hours, Pagasa added.

Because of the prevailing weather disturbance, parts of Bicol, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Northern Samar are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers.

People in these areas are advised to take precautionary measures as possible flash floods or landslides may occur.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “Amihan” will affect parts of Northern Luzon and Visayas.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies, especially in the late afternoon or evening may be experienced over Metro Manila, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon. JOVE MOYA
