EIGHT-division world champion Manny Pacquiao retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight belt as he defeated American Adrien Broner via unanimous decision on Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Judges scored Pacquiao, 117-111, 116-112, 116-112, as the Filipino boxer improved his win-loss-draw record to 61-7-2 with 39 knockouts.
Pacquiao proved that age was no obstacle as he easily won with an impressive display of superior hand speed and destructive power, almost knocking down Broner twice in the seventh and ninth rounds and showing that he can still be a force in the highly-competitive division. AFP
