New PNP spokesman named

THE Philippine National Police appointed Senior Supt. Bernard Banac as its new spokesperson effective today, January 22.

Prior to his new appointment, Banac served as the assistant chief of the PNP Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) .

He also served as the provincial director of Sorsogon in 2014.

Banac is part of the Philippine Military Academy’s Tanglaw Diwa Class of ’92.

He is expected to clarify and answer questions regarding the war against drugs, internal cleansing, and other issues.

The order, which was issued on January 21, also appointed Chief Supt. Benigno Durana from PNP spokesperson to acting director of the Directorate for Police Community Relations.

He will be automatically promoted to the rank of police director or two-star general.

Durana was the mouthpiece of the PNP for eight months, replacing Chief Supt. John Bulalacao who was appointed regional director of Western Visayas.

The appointments were made after some police officials retired from the service. ROY NARRA
