ARMM provinces top voter turnout in BOL plebiscite

MANILA, Philippines  – Two provinces under the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) recorded the highest voter turnout for the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plebiscite, Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesperson James Jimenez said on Thursday.

Based on data released by Jimenez, Maguindanao had a voter turnout of 93.35 percent, followed by Lanao del Sur with a voter turnout of 92.56 percent.

Basilan had a voter turnout of 81.89 percent, while the provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, which are also under the ARMM, recorded a voter turnout of 80.28 and 77.17 percent,  respectively.

Isabela City in Basilan recorded a voter turnout percentage of 58.70, the sixth among the seven areas in Mindanao that participated in the BOL plebiscite.

Cotabato City had the lowest voter turnout at 54.22.

The accumulated voter turnout for the BOL plebiscite was 85.13 percent, or 10 percent more than the Comelec projection. /gsg
