World Bank ready to help PH after Jolo twin blasts

MANILA, Philippines — The World Bank expressed readiness to extend its support to the Philippines after the twin blasts that killed at least 20 and wounded 81 others in Jolo, Sulu Sunday morning.

“We are saddened by these attacks which has marred with violence an otherwise peaceful and successful democratic exercise to ratify the Bangsamoro Organic Law,” the World Bank said in a statement.

“The World Bank stands ready to extend support to the Philippines through our longstanding and ongoing partnerships for peace and development in Mindanao,” it added.

Meanwhile, the World Bank Philippine office expressed its deepest condolences to the families of those who were killed and injured in the explosions. /atm
