2 drug suspects yield P40K worth of ‘shabu’ in Marikina buy-bust

MANILA, Philippines — About six grams of crystal meth (shabu) worth more than P40,000 were seized from two drug suspects during a buy-bust operation conducted in Marikina City on Thursday evening.
In a report released by the Marikina Police on Friday, the suspects were identified as Mary Cris Obien, 27, alias “Kring-kring,” and Roberto Sarcon alias “Bay.”
The buy-bust operation was conducted around 9:45 p.m. at Brgy. Nangka, Marikina City.
Initial investigation revealed that earlier on Thursday, the police were informed about the involvement of an alias “Bay” in the illegal drug trade.
During their operation, a police went undercover and proceeded to the place of Sarcon and Obien in an attempt to close a transaction with the suspects.
After acquiring a sachet of suspected shabu, the police conducted the arrest operation against the two suspects.
Seized from the suspects were two sachets of suspected shabu weighing around six grams worth around P40,800, P500 buy-bust money and a coin purse, police said.
Obien and Sarcon are facing criminal charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, particularly the provisions prohibiting selling and possessing illegal drugs.
Meanwhile, the mother of Obien, Cristina Obien, was arrested and charged for serious disobedience when she caused commotion during the arrest of the suspects.
All suspects were detained at the Marikina Philippine National Police detention cell. /jpv
