Incomplete slate doesn’t bother Otso Diretso Senate bets

MANILA, Philippines — It is not about the numbers but about what we are prepared to offer to Filipinos, Otso Diretso senatorial bets said on Tuesday.
“Sa pagkakaalam ko, hindi naman siya paramihan. Hinanap talaga nila yung mga tao na merong ibibigay sa ating taong bayan. May pinaglaban at may gustong ipaglaban,” re-electionist Senator Bam Aquino said during a press briefing at Cafe Poblacion in Caloocan City.
“I’m hoping na kahit Otso kami, traditionally 12 po yan, I still think this is a strong team. Lahat ng pangangailangan ng taong bayan, matutugunan po,” he added.
Aquino also asked the voters to undertake a background check on all their coalition’s candidates.
“It was not a matter of trying to fill 12 slots and honestly, I think this slate has a lot to offer and ang pinakahinahangad namin in the next 90 days. Ito yung slate na hinahangad na i-background check kami,” Aquino said.
“Paki-backgroud check kami, lahat ng aming nagawa na. Lahat ng aming pinaglaban at gusto namin ipaglaban,” he added.
Lawyer Romulo Macalintal said he is confident that they are better than other candidates because of their “principles.”
“Naniniwala kami na mas magaling kami kaysa sa kanila, yung iba nagpipilit na ma-identify sa one personality kami buo ang aming partido. Ang aming tinitindig ang aming prinsipyo,” Macalintal said during the press conference.
Earlier, Otso Diretso, a coalition of opposition parties, launched its election campaign by conducting a prayer rally and door-to-door campaign in Caloocan City. /jpv
