DOTr: MRT-3 passengers can bring liquids up to 100ml

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday said that liquids not more than 100-milliliter (ml) in volume was allowed on the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) trains.
DOTr Communications Director Goddess Libiran said this had been an MRT-3 policy since it implemented heightened security at its facilities and trains in accordance with international standards.
“They (passengers) are allowed to bring liquids such as perfume and cosmetics that are not beyond 100 ml in volume,” Libiran told INQUIRER.net.
“This was our policy since we started intensifying our security measures. We’re adhering to international standards. This is the same policy being implemented in airports,” she added.
The 100ml-limit is being implemented only at MRT-3 but, Libiran said, the DOTr is still waiting for “uniform guidelines” to be implemented across all transport hubs.
On Jan. 1, train managements started banning bottled water and other liquids as a security measure following recent bombing incidents in Mindanao.

The MRT-3 management earlier revealed that it received a bomb threat through e-mail early last month which prompted them to tighten security at all stations.
The management also earlier released a list of liquid items that were still permitted inside its trains. /cbb
