PO1 William Cristobal gives flowers and candies to commuters at MRT-3 Boni station in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

THE POLICE officer in the viral taho-splashing incident at a Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) station celebrated Valentine’s Day by giving train passengers flowers and candies on the same spot where his unpleasant encounter with a Chinese student happened.

Police Officer 1 William Cristobal along with some of his colleagues from the Eastern Police District distributed flowers and candies to commuters at MRT-3 Boni station.

“Sa kapulisan po kasi, hindi lang naman po ako ang mapagtimpi talaga”, said Cristobal when asked to comment about the incident.

“Majority naman po sa ating mga kapulisan ay may magagandang puso,” he added.

He considers the taho-throwing incident as an isolated case.

He wore the commendation medal conferred by Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde for keeping his cool despite the act of the irate foreign commuter.

Cristobal has been in the police service for 10 years.

Meanwhile, Zhang Jiale, 23, the Chinese student who threw a cup of “taho” at Cristobal, is now detained at  Bureau of Immigration Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, pending deportation proceedings. (Hanah Tabios)
