MANILA, Philippines — BreadTalk Philippines has apologized after a concerned customer reported that a rat was seen in one of its branches in Pampanga last week.

“Late last week during mall closure hours, a rat was spotted by a concerned customer in our Pampanga branch,” Breadtalk said in a Facebook post on Friday.

“Thank you to everyone who brought it to our attention. We are very sorry this happened. We will do everything we can to ensure this does not happen again,” it added.

The bakery then mentioned that they cleaned and sterilized all their stores following the incident to ensure food safety.

“Food safety is our most important priority. Upon learning of this incident, we conducted a thorough investigation as to how this situation occurred,” BreadTalk said.

“We then had professionals clean and sterilize the Pampanga branch and the rest of our branches, amplified our pest control screening to prevent pests from entering the stores, and retrained all of our staff to be extra vigilant about prevention,” it added. /ee
