Dole issues holiday pay reminder

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III reminded employers in the private sector to strictly follow the proper pay rules on Feb. 25, the 33rd anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution.
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 555 issued by President Duterte, the Department of Labor and Employment issued Labor Advisory No. 03, series of 2019 prescribing the proper payment of wages for the special nonworking holiday.
The labor department said the “no work, no pay” principle should apply, unless there was a favorable company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement granting payment on a special day. —Tina G. Santos
