Chief Supt. Bernabe Balba, EPD director, said the police will also strengthen operations to counter possible “nefarious” activities of militant groups.

“We are in full alert status, all applied leave of PNP (Philippine National Police) personnel are canceled to ensure all PNP personnel are present,” he said.

The EPD Police Community Relations Unit will also distribute flyers with safety tips in case of emergency to people in public markets, malls, parks, and terminals.

The NCRPO also said that coordination with other law enforcement agencies has been established for safe commemoration of the Edsa People Power Revolution.

“In the event that there are rallies, whether pro or con, all field commanders and other police personnel are directed to strictly observe maximum tolerance as well as uphold the rights of rallyists at all times,” Eleazar also said. /je
