Old woman arrested for attempted kidnapping of 2 girls

MANILA, Philippines — A few days after village watchmen foiled a woman’s attempt to abduct two boys in Manila, police arrested an elderly woman for allegedly trying to kidnap two girls in Marikina City on Monday.
Police said Gloria Payos, 70, of Bulusan, Sorsogon, allegedly tried to take two young children from Barangay Jesus dela Peña at about 5 p.m. but failed.
According to the Marikina City Police Station on Tuesday, Payos first grabbed the hand of a 4-year-old girl who was outside their house but the child’s mother saw her and prompted her to flee.
Minutes later, she also grabbed the hand of a two-year-old girl and seemed to be leading her away but the child managed to pull away and run to her mother, who sought the help of the police.
Police then apprehended the suspect.
The suspect was brought to Marikina City Police Station where she faces a case of attempted abduction. /cbb
