THE country’s manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) dropped to a six-month low in February due to weaker new business growth, an IHS Markit/Nikkei survey said.

Survey results released on Friday showed that the seasonally adjusted PMI fell to 51.9 in February from 52.3 in January, indicating a modest improvement in the health of the manufacturing sector.

The latest result is the lowest since August 2018.

The PMI is a composite index which represents the weighted average of new orders, output, employment, suppliers’ delivery time and stocks. Readings above 50 signal an expansion while below that is a contraction. ANNA LEAH E. GONZALES
