Ateneo whips UE for share of lead with La Salle, UP

ATENEO de Manila University on Sunday whipped the University of the East for a share of the lead in the standings of the women’s volleyball tournament in UAAP Season 81.
It was all business for the Lady Eagles who did quick work of the Lady Red Warriors in straight sets, 24-15, 25-21, 25-16 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
With the win, its third straight since dropping its opening game against De La Salle University (DLSU), Ateneo joined its archrival and the University of the Philippines on top with a 3-1 win-loss record.
Kat Tolentino, Maddie Madayag and Bea De Leon, Ateneo’s triple treat at the net, led the charge for the Lady Eagles whose only hiccup was in the second set when they encountered stiff resistance from the Lady Warriors who kept the game close, 22-20, before Ateneo ended the set with a Tolentino kill.
UE dropped to 1-3.
