Inflation eases to 3.8% in Feb, still within govt target range

INFLATION eased in February, returning to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas'(BSP) target, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Tuesday.
The consumer price index (CPI) during the month was at 3.8 percent, settling within the 2-4 percent target of the BSP and down from the 4.4 percent posted in January 2019.
“Slowdown in inflation remained to be primarily attributed to the slower annual increase in the index of the heavily-weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages,” PSA said. ANNA LEAH E. GONZALES
