ANTIPOLO CITY, Philippines — One of the candidates running under the opposition party, Otso Diretso visited local markets here on Wednesday to earn votes from local market vendors.
Lawyer Romulo Macalintal went to four markets including the Peñafracia and Pagrai local markets.
Macalintal interacted with vendors selling poultry and vegetable goods.
The lawyer also tried kuchinta, a Filipino rice cake from a “suman” (rice cake) vendor.
Volunteers from the opposition party also distributed Otso Diretso fliers to customers and vendors.
The Otso Diretso senatorial slate is composed of Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano, re-electionist Senator Bam Aquino, human rights lawyer Chel Diokno, civic leader Samira Gutoc, former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, Macalintal and former Deputy Speaker Erin Tañada. /muf
