SOCIAL Security System President and Chief of Executive Officer (CEO) Emmanuel Dooc “voluntarily and irrevocably stepped down” from his post, according to a statement released by SSS on Wednesday.

It said Dooc submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday to President Rodrigo Duterte “to provide him the opportunity to name a new President and CEO of SSS.”

In the same letter, Dooc expressed his gratitude to the President for “his support and for the opportunity to serve in his administration.”

Dooc is the 17th chief of the SSS where he played a significant role in initiating programs such as the Loan Restructuring Program, the Pension Loan Program, the Calamity Loan Assistance Package, and the Real-Time Processing of Contributions program.

His resignation came following the effectivity of Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018 that sought to expand the powers of the SSS to ensure the long-term viability of the system, as well as empowering it to increase benefits and provide mandatory SSS coverage of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), among others.

President Duterte appointed Dooc in 2016, replacing Emilio de Quiros. Prior to his appointment to SSS, Dooc served as Insurance Commissioner.  OFELYN DATUIN
