LISTED power distributor Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) announced on Thursday that it would raise its rates this month by P0.0894 per kilowatt hour (kWh), the second upward adjustment for the year.

This will bring electricity rates to P10.4961 per kWh in March from P10.4067 per kWh in February.

In a statement, Meralco attributed the slight adjustment to lower generation charge, primarily because of lower charges from plants under the Power Supply Agreements (PSAs).

Typical households that consume 200 kWh will see an increase of P17.88 in their March bill. For those who consume 300 kWh, they will see an increase of P26.82; for those who consume 400 kWh, an increase of P35.76; and for those who consume 500 kWh, an increase of P44.70. JORDEENE B. LAGARE
