MANILA, Philippines — A P24-million flood control project which will address flooding problems in Calasiao, Pangasinan has been completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced Monday.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said the project was implemented with a total budget cost of P24.57 million. It included the construction of a 550-lineal meter gabion revetment and rubble concrete along the Ingalera River.

The project, particularly the gabions, will help prevent erosion along the Ingalera riverbank and reduce the abrupt rising of water in the area.

This will protect the residents of 24 barangays in  Calasiao town as well as prevent the destruction of farmlands, Villar said.
