President Duterte has called on a priest who allegedly killed his “pregnant paramour” to surrender to authorities or risk getting killed “like a dog.”

The President mentioned a certain “Fernandez” accused of murder and offered to arrest him during his speech at the awarding of the 10 outstanding women in law enforcement and national security in Malacañang Monday night.

“Itong — ‘yong si Fernandez ba ‘yan? A priest who killed a pregnant paramour of his and he is… Nothing is happening to the case. Maglabas ‘yang warrant na ‘yan. Kung walang police, siyempre mahiya, ma… It’s very unsettling actually. So ako ang mag-aresto sa iyo,” Duterte said.

“You better surrender because if you are not, I’ll hunt you down. And if you don’t surrender, you put up a good fight, I’ll kill you like a dog. Wala akong — the law is the law is the law. Period,” he added.

The President did not mention other details about the case during his speech.

Duterte has often criticized the Catholic Church for its alleged corruption and abuse, saying it was the most hypocritical institution in the country.

A self-confessed abuse victim, Duterte recently called on the church to reform itself after Pope Francis confirmed the sex abuses involving some priests, including making nuns as sex slaves.

In his speech at the Palace, Duterte explained that he was only trying to tell the truth about the abuses committed by priests.

“So Pope, nag-summit sila to dwell on the abuses, sex offenses of the ano… Ayaw lang ninyo maniwala eh. Sabi ko ‘yang mga obispo mga g*** ‘yan,” he said. (Genalyn Kabiling)
