Cavite police chief orders relief of cops caught snoozing while on duty

MANILA, Philippines — Four police officers allegedly caught sleeping while on duty and three other policemen who were either absent or not wearing proper uniforms are now in hot water following a surprise inspection of police stations in Cavite.

Senior Supt. William Segun, provincial director of the Cavite Provincial Police Office, conducted the surprise inspection in several police stations in the province which started at 2 a.m. on Wednesday and discovered several lapses displayed by some policemen.

“They will be relieved from their present assignment and assigned in provincial admin holding unit (PHAU) then precharge investigation will be conducted before they could be penalized,” Segun said.

According to a report forwarded by Segun, among those he caught sleeping was SPO1 Miguel Aquintey, commander of Baccao Police Community Precinct in General Trias.

Segun said three officers from the Rosario Municipal Police Station were also allegedly caught snoozing including a desk officer and a duty investigator.

He said he also caught a police officer wearing improper and crumpled uniform in General Trias City Police Station. Another policeman was absent when Segun visited the station.

According to Segun, a policewoman from Kawit Municipal Police Station was also absent during the inspection. /jpv
