The local police station in Bay Minette, Alabama is currently doting on a temporary “detainee” — a goat.

The Bay Minette Police Department first posted on its Facebook page last Saturday, March 23, that their officers found a gypsy goat wandering the streets.

Control officer Rebecca Jernigan said that she and her colleagues thought the goat was only a baby, but later realized it was already full-grown, as per WKRG.

Nevertheless, Jernigan admitted that she and fellow officers are enjoying the goat’s company.

“The reaction has just been remarkable,” she said in the report. “Everybody has been saying, ‘Oh can I have him, can I hold him?’”

“He’s been walking around the police station,” Jernigan added. “I’ve just been letting him walk around the station and visit everybody.”

As per report, if no one claims the goat by Thursday, March 28, he will be up for adoption. As to how the goat ended up in the streets, Jernigan inferred, “He could have [gotten] out of someone’s yard, the fence could [have broken] down, he could have jumped on one of the stumps and over the fence.” Katrina Hallare/JB
