FOR the second straight day, the Luzon grid was placed on yellow alert because of thinning of reserves.

The alert was first raised at 10 a.m. and ended at 11 a.m. It will be up again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., according a report over radio dzBB.

An industry source said a yellow alert was declared because of insufficient reserve caused by the forced outage of Pagbilao 3 (320 megawatts), as well as the unplanned outage of three other power plants.

The Department of Energy has yet to release a statement.
