2 police escorts to teachers injured in Abu Sayyaf ambush in Sulu

TWO police escorts to a group of teachers were injured in Patikul, Sulu in an ambush by members of the Abu Sayyaf Group on Tuesday morning.

Police Master Sgt. Al-nidszfar Erajio and Patrolman Jordan Changlapon were accompanying teachers from the Department of Education from Jolo and en route to Barangay Taung when they encountered from 10 to 15 extremists at Barangay Kan Ague at about 8:30 a.m.

Col. Gerry Baesana, Western Mindanao Command spokesperson, said it was possible that the assailants were attempting to kidnap the teachers.

The two were immediately brought to the hospital.

They are currently determining the number of casualties on the enemy’s side.

Police are still investigating the incident and pursuing the suspects. ROY NARRA
