The self-confessed suspect in the hit-and-run incident in Pasig City last week was released from jail after posting bail on Monday, a police official said Tuesday.

Adrian Russel King Carlos was detained after his voluntary surrender to Pasig City Police on March 29.

He was charged the next day before the Pasig City Prosecutors’ Office with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injury and damage to property.

“We released Carlos from our custody on Monday at around 5:55 p.m. after posting a bail of P60,000,” P/Col. Rizalito Gapas, Pasig City Police chief, said. This was also confirmed by Pelagio Lawrence Cuison, legal counsel of Carlos, in a text message.

Carlos, a 29-year-old farm manager, took full responsibility for the hit-and-run accident on March 26. He allegedly hit the motorcycle of Mark Joseph Belen and live-in partner Rosanna Ugto.

Belen sustained a fractured leg while Rossana was comatose for days at Amang Rodriguez Medical Center in Marikina City before she died on March 29.

A day after Rossana died, Belen posted his sentiments regarding the incident and vowed to seek justice for her death.
