Two drunk men were arrested by police while they were fighting in the middle of the street over illegal drugs in Mandaluyong City Tuesday.

Police said the suspects, Arnold Aquino, 47, and Richard Alvarado, 39, both residents of Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City, were placed under arrest after they yielded P170,000 worth of shabu.

Investigation showed that at around 1 p.m. Tuesday, policemen were conducting foot patrol along Kapalaran Street in Barangay Barangka Drive, Mandaluyong City, when they chanced upon Aquino and Alvarado engaging in a fist fight.

The cops were trying to pacify the duo when a large sachet of illegal drugs fell from Aquino’s open sling bag, prompting the cops to arrest him as well as Alvarado, police said.

After their arrest, the officers seized 14 more large sachets of suspected shabu, two pairs of scissors, two disposable lighters and a digital weighing scale inside the sling bag of Aquino. Alvarado, on the other hand, yielded three sachets of suspected shabu, police said.

P/Col. Moises Villaceran, Mandaluyong City Police chief, said Aquino and Alvarado were drunk when they were seen fighting over the illegal drugs they have in their possession.

“They were drunk and they fought over the discrepancies on the weight of the drugs they have,” Villaceran said.

“They are both drug pushers and couriers,” Villaceran said, adding that the duo admitted they also use illegal drugs.

Police said the suspects are now detained at the Mandaluyong City Police Station. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
