Four local terrorists, including a brother of a Daesh-inspired terrorist leader, were killed while 11 others were wounded in military operations at the Liguasan Marsh in Maguindanao last Wednesday.

Troops from the Joint Task Force Central heavily engaged members of the Daulah Islamiyah-Turaifei Group in Liguasan Marsh, Barangay Pamalian, Datu Unsay in the morning.

The gunfight resulted into the death of Ali Abdul Mali, who is said to be the brother of Daulah Islamiya commander Abu Turaifei; the son of Abu Saiden, who is yet to be identified, and a still unidentified terrorist who was killed in the Mahad Buhos area.

War materials and improvised explosive devices were seized following the operation.

In the afternoon, troops engaged a faction of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters leader Sheik Esmail/Ismael Abubakar, alias “Commander Bungos,” which resulted into the death of a terrorist and wounded 11 others, including Commander Bungos’ nephew and one Maranao.

Major Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, JTF Central and Army 6th Infantry Division commander, said they have yet to identify the fatality.

Those wounded were being treated.

“Our focused military operations against peace spoilers and private armed groups in Liguasan, areas of Salibu-Pagatin-Mamasapano and Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, and other parts of the area of responsibility are sustained to ensure a secure and peaceful mid-term election on May 13,” Sobejana said.
