CDC security officer charged after ‘accosting’ Albayalde’s son

CAMP OLIVAS, Philippines — A security officer of the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) was charged and reportedly relieved from post after allegedly accosting the son of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde and disarming his security aides.
The PNP chief on Thursday lashed out at ret. Police Col. Romeo Cachola Ver, chief of CDC Public Security Development Office, for “displaying arrogance” while accosting his son, Kevin, 21, on Tuesday.
A police report obtained by the Inquirer stated that Kevin Albayalde parked his car near the football field at the Clark Freeport and was jogging at around 9 a.m. when Ver and other CDC security personnel approached him.
The two officials allegedly accused the young Albayalde of illegal parking.
The CDC security personnel also disarmed Albayalde’s two detail bodyguards identified as Police Master Sergeant Johnny Belinan and Police Cpl. Jeffrey Ebreo, the police report said.
“Nagpakita agad sila ng arrogance, sinigawan nila yun bata at sinabi nila maghintay ka darating na ang ABS-CBN. Ano ang ibig niya sabihin doon? Na-ticketan naman nila yung bata. Nagpakilalang anak ko pero lalo nilang sinigawan. We are checking kung allowed sila magdala ng baril,” Albayalde told reporters here.

The CDC security personnel reportedly perceived Kevin as a Chinese national who was name-dropping the general.
Albayalde said his son and his security aides were brought to the CDC Public Security Development Office for questioning, but they continued to berate him inside the office.
Police Brig. Gen. Joel Coronel, Region 3 police director, said charges of Violation of Article 359 of the Revised Penal Code(slander by deeds), grave coercion, unjust vexation and direct assault upon an agent or a person in authority were filed on Wednesday against Ver and his personnel.
The complaints were filed before the Office of Associate Provincial Prosecutor Leila Navarrete-Angulo in Mabalacat City. /ee
