MMDA sets 60kph maximum speed limit on Edsa, other major roads

MANILA, Philippines – Motorists will now have to keep their pace within the maximum speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour (kph) on Edsa and other major roads in Metro Manila or be fined P1,000 every time they breach the newly imposed rule, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Friday.

In its Regulation No. 19-00, MMDA has set the maximum speed limit and penalty with the aim of averting accidents along main roads in the metropolis.

According to MMDA, road accidents “can be largely attributed to over speeding.”

The 60 kph maximum speed limit policy will be enforced on the following roads:
