MCC Standard Open chess on today

International Master Barlo Nadera leads the early entries for the MCC Fide-rated Standard Open Chess Tournament that kicks off at 10 a.m. today at the 2/F Event Area of Starmall Edsa Shaw in Mandaluyong City.

Open to all chess enthusiasts with valid NCFP, regardless of ages. This four-day event organized annually by the Metropolitan Chess Club, will apply the seven-round Swiss System with the time control of 90 min. + 30 sec. increment.

At stake is a total pot of P25,000 with the champion pocketing the top prize of P6000 plus trophy and gold medal.

The top 10 finishers will receive cash prizes and medals. Events on tap are Top Senior; Top High School; Top Lady; and Top Kiddies in the 8-Under; 10-Under; & 12-Under.

Entry fee is R700 exclusive of 2019 NCFP membership.
