THE University of Santo Tomas (UST) boosted its semifinal bid in Season 81 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City on Wednesday by defeating the University of the Philippines (UP) in straight sets, 25-21, 25-12, 26-24.
The Tigresses improved to to 8-4, securing at least a playoff for a slot in semifinals.
Cherry Ann Rondina scattered 20 points, including 17 kills, while Ejiya Laure had 11 points with two blocks to lead the Tigresses.
“At the end, I’m happy with the team’s total effort,” said UST coach Kung Fu Reyes in Filipino. “Every rotation, our players are contributing so well. Good win for us since we’re closing in with the other teams in the upper part of the team standings.”
