ABUCAY, BATAAN — A teacher at the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) was killed while five others were injured when the tricycle they were riding was accidentally hit by a car along the Roman Highway here on Tuesday night.

In a belated report, police on Friday said Desiree Gruela, 42, died while being treated at the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center.

Injured were Rodolfo Gruela, Jr., 43; John Desir Gruela, 17; Josh Deric Gruela, 10; Paul Adrian Liquin, 9; and Rhenz Mark Matacot, 8.

Police said the Toyota Fortuner, driven by Manila Bulletin news correspondent Mario Supnad, was heading toward Balanga City when it accidentally hit the tricycle driven by Rodolfo Gruela.

Supnad, however, said it was not his vehicle that hit the tricycle but a Nissan Patrol wagon that was then speeding from the opposite lane. Greg Refraccion  /lzb
