MANILA, Philippines — There were 141,422 detainees either awaiting trial, undergoing trial or awaiting final judgment nationwide as of May 2018, according to the latest data of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
In Metro Manila, there were 33,797 detainees during that period, the highest among all regions. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
