THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded candidates in the coming midterm elections that campaigning was prohibited on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez also reiterated on Wednesday that included in the prohibition was the posting of any form of political ads on Facebook (FB).

Jimenez said Yahoo Phils. assured the Comelec that it would take down all political ads on these dates.

“All political campaign ads posted on Facebook on April 18 and 19 will be quickly taken down by Yahoo Phils.,” he said.

The campaign period for candidates for senator and party-list groups is from February 12 to May 11 while candidates for members of the House of Representatives and elective regional, provincial, city and municipal officials is from March 30 to May 11. WILLIAM B. DEPASUPIL
