BI ready for passengers of flights diverted to Naia from Clark

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) expressed readiness in servicing passengers of flights diverted from Clark International Airport (CIA).
Clark, which is in Pampanga, was heavily damaged by a magnitude 6.1 earthquake that jolted parts of Luzon Monday afternoon.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the BI said its officials at Naia made an assurance that it had enough manpower to serve passengers of the diverted flights.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente has instructed Grifton Medina, BI Port Operations Division chief, to extend the ban on the filing of vacation leaves by BI personnel at the NAIA, particularly those performing counter duties, for an indefinite period.
“I have asked our primary line officers to extend the period of their sacrifice in the name of public service,” Medina said. “Their services are much needed now with the influx of more passengers as a result of flight diversions from the Clark airport.”
Medina noted that the extension of the said ban would “ensure the uninterrupted delivery of service to the traveling public.”
“We received reports that the repairs on the Clark airport are almost completed, so we expect to return to normal operations soon,” he added.
