Petron-Letran escaped with a 91-90 win against St. Clare College-Virtual Reality to stay inside the top four of the Aspirants Group in the PBA D-League at the JCSGO Gym yesterday in Cubao.

Christian Balagasay scored a layup with 13 seconds left to help the Knights survive after squandering a 28-point first half and improve to 5-2 for third in the group.

Alvin Pasaol, coming off an impressive stint in the FIBA 3×3 World Tour in Doha, finished with 28 points, seven rebounds and three assists while Jerrick Balanza added 22 for the Knights of coach Bonnie Tan.

St. Clare dropped to fourth place at 4-2 after a spirited comeback from being down 48-20.

Paul Santos tried to give the Saints the win with a baseline jumper but teammate Junjie Hallare was called for an offensive foul for a moving screen with 1.7 seconds remaining.

Hallare produced 22 points and seven rebounds in a losing effort.

Chadao-Far Eastern University and Wangs Basketball were playing at presstime in a game that has implications as far as the top four race in the Foundation Group is concerned.
