More Filipino registered voters are aware of the partylist system, less than a month before the midterm elections in May, according to a survey by Pulse Asia released yesterday.

In the nationwide survey conducted from March 23 to 27 with 1,800 respondents, 74 percent have heard, read, or watched something about the party-list system.

This is much higher than the February 2019 figure of 61 percent.

Majority awareness levels are recorded in all geographic areas and socio-economic classes (57 to 79 percent and 62 to 86 percent, respectively).

Awareness is more marked in Metro Manila (74 percent), rest of Luzon (79 percent), and Mindanao (77 percent), than in Visayas (57 percent) and in upper-to-middle Class ABC than the poorest Class E (86 percent versus 62 percent).

Between February 2019 and March 2019, Pulse Asia said awareness of the partylist system became more manifested not only on the national level (+13 percentage points) but also in the rest of Luzon (+12 percentage points), Visayas (+30 percentage points), Class D or “masa” (+13 percentage points), and Class E (+16 percentage points).
